Nestled in the heart of Central Otago’s renowned wine region, the Gibbston Valley Golf Club is a boutique 9-hole, par-32 course designed by celebrated golfer Greg Turner. Officially opened in March 2026, the course is located within the Gibbston Valley Resort, directly opposite the iconic Gibbston Valley Winery.
Designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, the course features a challenging and memorable layout of five par 4s and four par 3s. In place of traditional sand bunkers, natural rocky outcrops and historic gold-mining tailings create distinctive hazards that reflect the region’s rich heritage.
The course also showcases two large undulating double greens, shared between holes 1 and 8, and holes 2 and 5, adding a unique strategic element to the playing experience.
Surrounded by rugged mountain ranges, rolling vineyards, and views of the Kawarau River, the course offers an unforgettable golfing experience in one of New Zealand’s most spectacular settings. Designed as a walking course, players are encouraged to immerse themselves in the natural beauty and character of the landscape with every round.
